A movie makers' club brings together people with a wide range of interests and experience. There will be photographers, sound enthusiasts, actors, writers, special effects fanatics ... and, if you're lucky, someone who loves to make the tea. This is where you learn at first hand from people who have experience. Borrow equipment and see how it suits you. Discover the fun of different aspects of movie making. There is always someone to help you with a problem ... or who knows someone who can. Most clubs make some movies as a group - more as a learning experience than a bid for Oscars. All clubs support and assist sub-groups of friends who want to make their own movies. There will be a chance to show your work to a sympathetic audience and get helpful comment. Clubs also run competitions and may compete with neighbouring clubs. Some of these generate great work.

Most clubs have exchange visits with other groups who bring a selection of their work for you to examine. There may also be lectures by top amateur film makers and enthusiasts. Often companies who supply equipment are invited to demonstrate the latest kit.

There is no better environment to encourage and develop your skills as a movie maker.
